What Is An Eye Emergency?

Here is a list of few symptoms that warrant a call to our office:

• Red eyes
• Eye pain
• Discharge
• Eyelid styes or bumps on the eyelid
• Contact lens-related complications
• Sudden vision loss
• Foreign objects in the eye
• Eye trauma
• Sudden onset of flashes and floaters
• Ocular Migraines
• “Pink Eye”

​​​​​​​In most cases, it is best to call your eye doctor if you are experiencing an eye emergency instead of going to urgent care or an emergency room. Some emergency rooms or urgent care facilities may not be equipped with appropriate diagnostic equipment to properly examine the eye which can result in misdiagnosis and delay in care. Most urgent care facilities will have you follow-up with your eye doctor anyways, so it saves you money from spending hundreds of dollars on urgent care bills.
